A new boat and the Bodrum Race week 2007

Dear Yildiz Yachting friends.

And yet again, another new boat!!

After the arrival of Take Five and Vivimus we have added another new yacht to the fleet, a Beneteau Cyclades 39.3 for a maximum of six people. She will have three cabins, two heads and battened mainsail, as well as all the equipment on board you have come to expect from a Yildiz Yachting boat. A good excuse for another holiday sailing from Bodrum?

The Yildiz Yachting Race Week 2007 took place from 20 to 27 October. In this newletter you can read about it and see some photos.

The first racing day. The first race was held on the Sunday. We started with 15 monohulls and 1 catamaran. It was a nice, sunny day with a pleasant wind, force 3 to 4. We went around Celibi island in Bitez bay and then via Kargi Adasi back to Bodrum. The winners of the day were Andrew and Alison Johnson on their Contessa 34 “Kishar”

3. Condor Nico Winnubst

The second day. After a succesful first day everybody was anxious to start the 2nd race but unfortunately the wind was too strong (about 7 to 8 beaufort) and we had to stay in port.

The third day. This day was “wind wise” the most interesting day. With a wind force 5 to 6 we started with good speed up to English Harbour. In the afternoon the wind dropped and there was some rain but luckily most boats made it on time through the finish. Proud winners of the day were Family Viergever on Sisu. In the evening we had a good dinner and lots of drinks in the Kaptan Restaurant in English Harbour.

The fourth day. After a start with very little wind some boats chose to go north and stay close to land where they got a good breeze. Winners of the day were Joost and Iris, the flotilla leaders from Fethiye. We ended the day in Cökertme in Kaptan Ibrahim's restaurant

The fifth and last day: This beautilful day took us from Cökertme back to Bodrum. Joost and Iris did well because they were first again!

Saturday night was prize giving night with Neptune (also known as Kees) presenting the awards. We had a lovely dinner and drinks in the Marina Köfteci Restaurant, also the sponsor of the race. Lots of stories were told and we had a great time.

We would like to thank all the participants and others who helped to make this event so succesfull.
